This I Like #6: Lucius - Until We Get There

Okay, confession time. I love New Girl. I know the quirky and cute female protagonist model has been done a million times, and it's not terribly intellectually stimulating, but I don't really care. All I want to do when I watch television is laugh a lot and feel feels. I'm a sucker for cute comedies like that and I haven't seen many shows embrace a weird sense of humor like they have. And as a certified weirdo, I truly appreciate it.

Anyway, at the end of the most recent episode, (which I shouldn't have been watching because I have two midterms this week...but never mind that) while some really sweet romantical stuff was happening, they played this song. And it captivated me so much that I watched it back several times just so I could search the lyrics.

So here, you go, the song at the end of New Girl 2x24, Until We Get There by the Brooklyn-based band Lucius. You can either watch this kind of lame video, or go to my tumblr where I uploaded the audio.

PS Also, for anyone who cares, the character of Jess actually doesn't strike me as a manic pixie dream girl. Unlike Summer, who Zooey Deschanel is also famous for playing, Jess has become a developed and multifaceted character who viewers can sympathize with. Props to the writers of New Girl for that!

This I Like #5: Lauren Aquilina

There are so many youtube musicians, you've got to be really good to stand out and actually make a name for yourself. I've never heard of Lauren before, but what I understand, she usually uploads covers. Screw covers, girl! This original is out of control, and had my eyes watering by the end of the first verse. I think we all know exactly what she's singing about...
Not only that, but the video is visually stunning. And I totally have that blue dress.

Enough tittle tattle. Enjoy:

Ruh Roh.

I've been shopping...
Stress shopping, namely. When I have a lot of stuff going on, I online shop as a coping mechanism. So posts about forever21, cotton on, and a beauty haul are coming soon...

This I Like #4: Yuna

I just got home from the Blackbird Blackbird/STRFKR concert, and boy did they exceed my expectations. STRFKR put on a great show, and they even though I came in all stressed out about the rest of this week, I was having the time of my life by the end.

On a different note, I just want to put this out there - it's a cover of Nirvana's Come As You Are by Yuna. Beautiful voice, and beautiful arrangement..

This I Like #3: CHVRCHES

Sorry it's been a while! School has been eating my life recently, but I've still found some worthy stuff.
Since I am going to Sasquatch (AAAHHH!!) this year for the first time, I have taken it upon myself to listen to bands on the lineup that I don't know. Such as...CHVRCHES. One of my best friends actually sent me one of their songs, and within the first few seconds, I was hooked. Enjoy!

My intro to CHVRCHES

Their new single, Recover.

Cheers, internet.

This I Like #2: STRFKR

I finally bought my ticket for the Blackbird Blackbird/STRFKR show at the Neptune that's happening in a month! After that, I felt it was my duty to actually listen to some STRFKR songs (besides their most well-known one, Rawnold Gregory etc etc, which I had already heard). And man, I had a bit of a "where have you been all my life" moment.

The song Bury Us Alive is from 2011, but it's new to me, so...

Caution: music video is a bit odd.

This I Like #1: Blackbird Blackbird

From now on, I am putting music/food/books/other stuff I like talking about here, on the internet. Woohoo!

First, some really chill music I've been loving:

I love pretty much everything Blackbird Blackbird does, but these two are my favourites. That reminds me, I still have to get tickets to their show here in Seattle...They're opening for STRFKR at the Neptune, which is super conveniently just a few blocks from where I live. YAY
Anyway, listen to that if ya want.

PS. I'm going to be doing a lot more of these random "stuff I like" things, because there's no way I can keep up a blog if I try to stay on one topic. So there will be a lot more music/books/food/randomness coming your way. =)
